‘The Help’ by Kathryn Stockett was recommended to me by @PopcornCandi and I have been hooked since page 1. The book is set in Jackson, Mississippi in 1962 and tells the story of four women and how they try to make sense of the world they live in. The book is quirky and tells the stories of what the maids went through working for a racist society and the things they see living as flies on a wall in the white households that they clean and the children that they raise. One of the white women decides to take a dangerous chance and write a book on the experiences of the maids in the Jackson community and the hardships that they endure as second class citizens.

I am excited to finish the book and to see how this tongue in cheek look at a time where there were still “Whites Only” places in the USA turns out!

Also a Major Motion picture. See the trailer at www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_ajv_6pUnI
